Berwyn Patio

Completed in summer of 2021, the Berwyn Patio is a complete transformation of a backyard space that was cramped and dated to a stylish and comfortable extension of the house. A wood burning fireplace is the centerpiece of the space, surrounded by white, chartreuse and dark green and decorated with sparkling lights. The retaining wall is thin brick that was painted white to match the house and custom cut stone stairs leading to the lawn beyond. Pennsylvania bluestone paves the center of the space while water-permeable river-washed gravel creates casual access.

This space has been a hit for the whole family and was given the seal of approval from their teenage kids and their friends! Maffei Landscape Design specializes in conceiving and creating outdoor places that are meaningful, relevant and responsive to the specific conditions in which they are set with an emphasis on plant selections that complement the natural and built environment.
